Arthur F. Risden is recognized as one of New Jersey’s leading education law authorities. He has concentrated his practice in education law for over thirty years, serving as counsel to public and independent schools across the state, including one of the state’s largest regional school districts.

The scope of Art’s school law experience is broad, ranging from matters involving construction law, the Public Schools Contracts Law, Special Education law, cable television law, as well as constitutional issues. He has handled multi-million dollar bond issues and provided representation in the development and construction of new school facilities.

In educational litigation and Special Education matters, Art represents clients at mediation, during administrative proceedings, and in the state and federal courts. He acts as a legal consultant during collective negotiations, arbitration proceedings, and also provides counsel in other areas, such as policy analysis and revisions, legal compliance investigations and Section 504 programs.

Art also serves as counsel to banks and other financial institutions in connection with “loan workout” matters, as well as transactional and general litigation matters. He has experience in all phases of workouts involving real estate loans, commercial and asset-based loans.

Art is a member of the Camden County Bar Association, and has served as a Trustee of that Association. He has also served as the Secretary of the District IV Ethics Committee covering Camden and Gloucester Counties. Art is a member of the New Jersey Association of School Attorneys. He is also a member of the Creditor/Debtor Relations Section, Real Property Probate and Tax Law Section, and the Banking Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and a member of the Business Law Section, Real Property and Probate and Trust Section, and Litigation Section of the American Bar Association.

Art received his law degree from the Duquesne University Law School in 1973, graduating cum laude. Art is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, the United States Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Duquesne University in 1970.
