R. Taylor Ruilova concentrates his practice in the representation of public and private/independent schools and other members of the educational community. Taylor’s education practice includes student matters, construction issues, renewable energy projects, public contracts and bidding, contract review and preparation, budgetary issues, labor and employment, and union negotiations. Taylor also works extensively with clients in the management of special education issues and litigations. Taylor has successfully litigated a variety of matters in several states and in New Jersey before the Office of Administrative Law, the Superior Court and the Appellate Division.

In addition to his general education law practice, Taylor has served as an Adjunct Professor for Fairleigh Dickinson University teaching School Law, as well as regularly lecturing and providing in-service trainings to education professionals throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania on a wide range of school law topics, including board of education ethics, special education, Section 504, QSAC compliance, administrative issues, pupil residency, and pupil discipline.

Taylor also handles a variety of construction matters, including design professional and product defect related matters. Taylor has experience in many facets of construction litigation, including matters on behalf of and adverse to owners, builders, architects, engineers and other associated professionals in connection with construction defect claims, property damage and delay claims. Taylor also represents a range of clients in land use and real estate matters, including contract negotiations and obtaining site plan, subdivision and zoning approvals. Taylor also works corporate matters, including the formation and structuring of general business and 501(c)(3) non-profit entities, and the management of general corporate governance matters. In addition, Taylor has experience with probate matters, including guardianships, preparation of wills and estate documents, and estate litigation.

Taylor is a member of the bars of the State of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the firm, Taylor served as law clerk to the Honorable Ronald E. Bookbinder, then Presiding Judge of New Jersey Superior Court, Chancery Division, now Assignment Judge of Burlington County.

Taylor graduated from Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and then received his Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law - Camden. As the one of the Editors of the Rutgers Journal of Law and Urban Policy, Taylor authored a published note analyzing land use, condemnation power and urban redevelopment. At Rutgers, Taylor also served as President of the Student Bar Association. While in law school, Taylor worked in the in-house legal department of an international pharmaceutical corporation and as an intern for the Honorable Francis J. Orlando, Jr., the then Assignment Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court Camden Vicinage.

Taylor is a member of the American Bar Association, the Camden County Bar Association and the Burlington County Bar Association, where he has been a member of several committees, including General Equity and Probate. He is also a member of the Moorestown Club of Rotary International and served on its Board of Trustees. Taylor formerly served on the Board of Trustees for the non-profit Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Camden County and directed its largest fundraiser, the annual CASA of Camden County Golf Tournament.
