On October 28, 2011, Mark G. Toscano, Esq. was invited to present to the New Jersey Bay Counties Administrators of Special Education on “Common Missteps and Practical Guidance for IEP Teams and Administrators” at the Centerton Country Club in Pittsgrove, New Jersey.

The presentation focused on developing, creating and implementing smart IEPs for students. The presentation also focused on various practical issues that Special Education Administrators are confronted on frequent basis such as: legal issues surrounding the restraint of students; legal issues surrounding CST members and educators venturing outside one’s training and knowledge area; dealing with the boundary between what is needed educationally versus what is needed medically; and legal issues surrounding IDEIA eligibility and common missteps in that process. Participants were also provided with best practices and tips on how to navigate the daily pitfalls and landmines faced by educators delivering special education and related services.
