In certain limited instances, the Group represents disabled students and their families in wide-ranging special education matters, including the review of IEPs, attendance and representation at IEP Team and other meetings, and also litigate Resolution Sessions, Mediation requests and Due Process Hearings.
State and Federal laws require that special-needs children receive appropriate special education and related services. Through a recently re-authorized and revised Federal law, the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act (the "IDEA"), schools must provide a "free and appropriate public education" to educationally-disabled students. The law requires schools to provide special education, through various forms of specialized instruction and/or placements, and related services, such as physical or occupational therapy, necessary for disabled children to receive an "appropriate" education that accommodates their special needs.
Regardless of the nature of the dispute, we have broad experience handling special education matters. Under the IDEA, the Group represents disabled students to ensure that they receive appropriate Individualized Education Plans ("IEPs") that fit their particular needs.
